The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital & Queen Elizabeth II Community Ambulatory Centre is seeking a physician with training in geriatric medicine to join the Senior's Health Care Team, providing services in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.

Geriatric medicine physicians are experts in organizing and providing health care for older people. In general, they
apply knowledge of aging, clinical problems of older people and special features of disease in the aged to make accurate diagnoses in frail seniors
apply knowledge of local health, social and voluntary services and resources to design personalized care plans for older persons
co-ordinate their assessments with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care professionals
synthesize the results of their assessments with those of other health care team members
participate in case conferences designed co-ordinate activities and plan preferred management strategies for older patients
promote health maintenance and disease prevention for all older patients
recommend and mobilize resources to help patients maintain stay in their community
confer with health and community members to ensure that health and social services are in place and serving an older person in a satisfactory manner
Duties include but not limited to:
Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Grande Prairie
Provide hospital and call assistance as required
Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities
Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned.

Must have current hospitalist experience in a rural and regional setting
- CCFP Certificationandan additional year of training a certification in"Care of the Elderly"
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (desired)
